hello everybody,
I am new to this forum and so i extend a big hello to all of you out there.
Anyway I am on the market for a new tv and I am tossing up between the SONY KFE42A10 or the 50 Inch SP50L6HX DLP . I just wondered if any of you have any experience of these two models and which would be a better buy in terms of image quality on not only SD but HD as well. I am also keen on hooking up an xbox 360 to it too later on this march when it is released where i reside in Australia.

Many thanks
dagunov:)

I have the Sony KDF50A10... It is the 50" version of what you are looking at. The picture quality is great and the 42" uses the same electronics as the 50". Some manufacturers do not do this. For the money this is a great set. I have not had any experience with the DLP on your list.

I just came back from Best Buy. The 42A10 is down to $1799 and the 50A10 is down to $2249. Those are almost reasonable prices. :)

I was able to get my 50" from a local smaller retailer for $2075 out the door with no tax... Invoice on electronics is pretty low. If you haggle enough, you can usually get a good deal.

The KFE42A10 is the exact same model my dad was looking at the other day. He's really interested but still unsure. I'd also like more input from others who already own it. Here in Canada, this model is selling for $1988...not bad for a 42 inch.:)

Yea I actually just got the 50 inch for christmas. It has really nice picture quality and I have an XBOX hooked up to it. There is no lag to be found, all games are playable on this unit. You have to be careful with microdisplays, some of the units require a split second to conver the signal. This converts into lag time between when you press a button and stuff happens on the screen. Make sure you are seated at least 9 feet from the 50 inch (or 71/2 from the 42 inch) other wise the screen will look pixelated from the screen door affect. This can not be stressed enough, if you do not have the room to sit far back, go for the DLP. Otherwise I feel that this unit is awesome and well worth the money.

I've been looking at this one too. I'm waiting for a decent open-box to come back so I can get it at store cost. Some people are stoopid and they don't measure the spot for the tv, so they return it because of that, but it still has to be sold open box because it was, well, opened. I got my front speakers and my cd changer the same way!

More thinking

hello again
I am still considering the KFE42a10 and actually had a chance to see it in store this time and it was impressive. However I also spied the Sony BRAVIA KLVV32A10 and that too looked amazing. I wondered what anyone else thought of this model and how it compared in terms of image quality to the KFE42a10? I know it is a step down in screen size. I did not get a chance to compare the two as i was pressed for time.:)

Many thanks
Dragunov.

A 10 inch drop in screen size is pretty dramatic when looking at these size ranges.

The Bravia is $700 more for a considerably smaller tv, so think about size here.

Since you were looking at the LCDP first, I gather you have no intention of mounting it on the wall, therefore it shouldn't matter if the tv is flat or not, right? Granted, the 32 might look better picture-wise, but what good is that if you can't see it very well?

When I'm in work next I'll take a look at them and see what I think. Also, a good thing you could do is look up the specs on both tv's and get the resolution, contrast ratio, etc. I'm going to do that soon, just so I can know exactly what they are. I don't go over to tv's that often, so I don't know too many individual specs on them. (I stay mostly in Audio).

No problem! I'm going to pop into work tomorrow to raise hell about me not getting my W2 yet, so I'll take a peak at the tv's when I go in. :)
