Hi all,

I was just notified that Kurt, KEW, passed away 19 December. He experienced sudden cardiac arrest, and did not suffer.

His daughter has asked me to speak at his memorial. If anyone wants to join in/meet there/whatever, PM me.

Many here got to know the quality of his character, and the quality of his friendship. I am very upset to have lost such a good friend.

He had just visited me the week before Thanksgiving. We cooked prime rib and had a blast, as always. He was undergoing some procedures before and after, but they seemed to go well.

I am thankful to this forum for having having met Kurt. He was extremely passionate about music and he did an amazing job of sharing his passion here. Let's share some stories of the good times with our good friend, Kurt:

Ah, hell.
Very sad news.

Kurt was a great contributor here and I’m glad to have gotten to know him, moreover to have been able to call him friend.

Thank you for sharing the news, @TheWarrior.

It's a sort of coincidence that I was thinking of Kurt yesterday. I was wondering how he was doing, as I have a good recollection of his interesting posts.

As stated by @TheWarrior, he definitely had a good character. He will be missed by many.

This I'm saddened to hear. We all know how helpful he was to anyone searching for audio info but some might not be aware of how much he did for me personally ... it's his speakers that have been in my living room for over a decade now. They were as much a gift as a sales item and as he predicted, they were an end to upgrade-itis. The picture of them in the classified ad had a banana on them meant to lure me in: An avatar related joke that flew over my head but he kindly got his point across and achieved his objective of pure generosity.

I missed his presence on the forum after he got injured in some foreign country but figured he was recovering and just moving on from audio forums. It happens. That I could deal with. This news however brought me to tears.

My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

He had a stroke and it caused a noticeable decline. Despite that, he continued in at least one jazz band, and got to perform at his daughter's wedding.

He had fought off cancer previously, but that still had lasting effects too. Just a one of a kind human that this world DID NOT need to lose!

I'm glad to hear that your friendship continued in real life. Kurt had used his experience as a musician to help me understand certain aspects of a speakers abilities. I'm sorry to hear about his struggles with health.

I think it was early 2013 that we all met up at Swerd's house for what we called The Great Speaker Exchange. Sadly I'm the only surviving participant ... maybe a poor choice of words there. It's hard to describe how much goes into 3 people getting together under one roof for a weekend over a shared hobby. And how fast the next dozen years went by.

He spoke of that Exchange many times! He and I met up for listening tests as well, but lived close enough that they never stopped. Even now that I've moved, he has been here every year. No testing recently, just watching/ listening and eating good food.

Our dogs know him as Uncle Kurt, and he was the first friend each of them met after they came home. He's family.
