KEF Q15's for vintage Luxman LX-33 amp, or?

I have a nice vintage Luxman LX-33 tube amp rated at 30 watts / channel. I just got a pair of KEF Q15's to run with it. It sounds great, but it seems the amp has a lot more juice than is needed for these speakers. I barely have to turn it up at all to get sound out of it. I was thinking by using less efficient speakers, I could maximize the potential of the amp, by being able to turn it up to more of an optimal level. It seems the tubes like to be pushed a bit to get the best sound. But it really sounds nice the way it is. I was just wondering if I made the right purchase...

Price aside, if you like the sound and it is a Luxman then it is a good purchase. I have no info of the Q15 but current Q series are 8 ohm speakers that can handle 100W or higher so they should be fine for the LX-33. Just don't turn the volume too high because it is a tube amp so you may push it too far to the point of damaging your speakers without know it.

Depends upon the age of the amplifiers..
If built in Japan when Alpine owned them then I would rank these amplifiers as being better sonically. Next Samsung bought them and I didn't like what they did with the brand..

Just my $0.00.. ;)

The LX33 is made in Japan, it's from around 1980 I think. To me, it's got a very nice smooth and warm sound. It's a family heirloom. I actually was wondering more about the speakers, which are the recent purchase, although I posted this in the wrong forum. I guess I'll go post a question in the speakers forum.
