They are the 103.2. I purchased mine with stands. They have been absolutely bullet proof. They are out in my shop now, but I still enjoy getting out there and running them. I much prefer them over my Sonus Faber's and 12" Veledyne Sub. On the other hand, my wife likes the size of the Sonus much better. The 103.2 are not really that big but not bookshelf suitable.

Do you have the original 103, or the 103.2 (which came out in 1980)? I have heard great things about the 103.2, and imagine that the 103 is a fine speaker as well.

From looking at old information about KEF speakers from that era, I know why I did not buy any at the time, as they were rather expensive (one must remember inflation and what a dollar was worth back then when thinking about such matters; I also had far less money at my disposal then). But from my little experience with old KEF speakers now, it was money spent for quality.

From what I have heard, those are awfully good for a shop. I would like to hear a pair, and am tempted to buy a pair just to hear them.

And I have heard that the protection circuitry is so good that you can actually plug them into an electrical outlet without damage (110v in the U.S., not the 240v in some countries). I have been told that some U.S. KEF dealers used to actually do that to demonstrate how robust the protection circuitry is.

I do not recommend testing the idea on yours, as the protection circuitry may not function quite as well after 30 years, and it is also possible that people on the internet lie or get things wrong.
