JVC Won't save Settings?

My JVC 52Z575 was off on the red convergence. From the factory menu I accessed the red convergence moving it over one pixel and saved it by hitting the mute button and exited by hitting menu again.

For some reason it would not permanantly save this setting, once the set is turned off its gone. Every time I turn on the set I have to go into the factory menu and re-set the convergence. This is the way the factory service menu says to do this.

I don't know why it won't save  Any ideas?

There should not be any reason for you to have to converge your TV. You should call an authorized service center to get it checked out.

Ok, Thanks Griff. When I had the Calibrator here last Monday he checked the convergence and noticed it was off by one pixel in the Red box.

He fixed this but the setting does not stay when you turn off the TV.

Griff, are you saying a newer TV ( Mine is about 1.3yrs old) should never need to have convergence set?

I will call customer service.

Thanks

IF I looked up the right model you shouldn't. The JVC HD-ILA LCoS sets are a Fixed-Pixel technology. Which means they shouldn't need to be adjusted (converged).

I have quite a bit of experience with these sets at work and I can't say I have seen one yet that needed "alignment". Which leads me to believe it could have something wrong with it. It's hard to say without looking at it.

Hope this helps.

LCoS, LCD, and 3-DLP devices may need a bit of adjustment to align the 3 individual color panels on top of one another. This is why the tech said that one color was about 1 pixel off. It is very common for 3 chip displays to have the colors just be a tad off of perfect convergience. Never as bad as CRT technology, but nonetheless a real issue with any 3-chip display device.

Single chip DLP does not EVER have this issue, but does sometimes exhibit rainbows... which can cause headaches for some people.
