JVC RX-D202 USB Hook-up issues.

Ok, so for christmas I got my current system. The main reason i got the JVC reciever and not a stereo one with sub out is because this one has a USB hook-up, and pretty much all the audio I listen to comes from my PC (Movies, shows on DVD, music etc.) So anyways, every once and a while I'll have a break in the sound. I don't know what's causing it, I have the recommended cable length and speed, so I really don't know what to do to fix it either. I've tried moving the computer's hardware acceleration and other sound settings around, but it doesn't really affect it. Any help? I was thinking of buying an 8in. cable for $1.75 to see if it's just to long a cable.

Edit- Did some lookin' around, I thought this would be more effective than a USB cable http://www.cables4computer.com/products/individualItem.asp?groupcode=I0337

More info once it's arrived.
