I connected my Dish Network DVR-942 HDMI output to my Panasonic 50" Plasma HDMI input. Was running component cables which where satisfactory before with no problems. The issue now is that when I first turn on the tv it cant seem to find the video signal thru the HDMI connection. I have to play around with TV 2 which is also connected to this receiver via coax to activate the video signal on TV 1 (Plasma). Once I establish a signal on the plasma and then turn off the tv and then back on again my signal thru the HDMI cable is lost again. I double checked all my tv settings making sure that the cable is hooked thru HDMI and still no cure for the problem. At this point I really dont know if its the TV or the 942. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you turn off the Dish box? If you can, turn on the display first (let it sync showing no signal) then the box. Just my best guess that it's a handshake issue.

I will file this post away as one more reason why HDMI is as often more of a headache than it is worth. It sounds like a plasma issue to me. The plasma isn't looking for HDMI signal constantly, but only looks for it once.

Not sure of a fix unless there is a new HDMI board that can go into the plasma. I would check with the manufacturer to see if they are aware of this as an issue.

It may be worth it to pick up an HDMI DVD player just to confirm that this issue is consistent among products and isn't isolated to your Dish box.
