Another member here, brian32672, has a VTF-3MKII in a 30x17x8 room (no vaulted ceiling) and he says that his sub is awesome with the volume dial on 3. That's at 3/10.
Sorry jaxvon - that is a little misleading.
What I had said to Matt was that in a room that is 30x17x8, is that this sub will easily fill that size room (will be apprx. my new room dimensions)
My room now is 19.5x13x8. However that is open to all other rooms, 2 hallways, and the kitchen which has a pass-through window.
So in actual terms my open areas would even be more than the 30x17x8.

I got to personally "play" with Brian's VTF-3 rosewood before he sold it (he now has two, yes TWO

, VTF-3 piano blacks)
THEY KICK BUTT
Unfortunately, since I live in a condo - Dave did not get a real chance to see what these things can do.
However, he could feel the extension that a single one can do at low to moderate volume levels.
And when he heard it (yes the gain was set at 3), he was impressed.
But yes, now I have 2. (well Rosewood was just sold - to get another PB version)
The gain level on both subs were set at 2 1/2 for the Rosewood and 2 3/4 for the PB.
(EDIT:: Also that is with the receiver set at -10 trim level for the subs)
Just an awesome experience - to have that much headroom for the subs.........
Blows a movie theater away, I am totally serious......

Right now I am using an Athena PS-400 10" and 150W I think, from what I have read this sub should be a nice improvment, think I will buy "War of the Worlds" to break it in with!
This will be an understatement, trust me - You will come back here and state - 'I have been missing out'
The problem is that HSU bass is addicting - so hide your wallet.

I just recently hooked up the Athena sub and what I have been using most is a Mirage LF-100 8" sub that I can hardly hear; should be a nice change! I have never been a big bass-head and in my older years no longer listen at ear-splitting levels, what I wanted was good acurate bass that is not boomy. Not liking high-vollumes and things falling off the wall I was a little worried about getting a fairly big sub but I guess I don't have to crank it up right? I am looking for acurate, non-boomy bass at low vollume levels and hope this sub will do that.
This will be exactly what you are looking for. My normal listening is at 78db with 84db peaks.
And the clean bass that you hear and feel even from this low volume is just awesome (yep, I am still in awe)
(EDIT:: Granted I have had it much higher, just sweeeeeet.)
Jaxvon, gave you the link to my Rosewood
Here is the link for the Piano Black -

I should have one next month, most likely in matte black, but there might me a turbo attached to it the following month.
Ah, slow down Matt.

You may not need the Turbo. But then again, it can't hurt.
