Hey guys,
I good friend of mine's father just replaced the aging audio system in his living room. This guy is very well off and always buys very expensive stuff without really knowing much about it. Anyway, he gave me his old two channel amp and by old I mean this thing must be around 15 years in age if not more. It is a Sonance System-VCA.1 and I can't find any specs on it. I called Sonance and the guy told me he wasn't sure what the specs were due to the amps age. I'm wondering if this wouldn't be a good way to boost performance on my Infinity Beta 50's. If it is not going to add anything over my Harman Kardon 635 then its not really worth the hassle of setting it up. All I have been able to find out about it on line so far is that it cost $1,000 new so at one point it was a good product I am guessing. Any info or ideas on where to find specs ect would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Here's what I found...

...from the Sonance site re: company history:

http://www.sonance.com/subs/history.html

Specifically: 1988 Developed the VCA1, the first 3-channel "room amplifier" designed for home use. One channel each for bass, left and right channels.

Also from a post in some other audio forum: that it is rated 60Wpc(x3) into 8 Ohms, but stable into 2 Ohm loads. This info of course(like most info on the web) is anecdotal in nature until proven otherwise, so take it FWIW...
