and I'm either in love or have more questions than before. I demoed B&W 683's...not impressed. Very flat and neutral sounding with no bass at all. Demoed RBH TK series towers-definite step-up in sound...but I don't care for the aesthetics much:( (the dark reddish color just doesn't match the house). Then the salesman had me listen to the Dali Ikon 6's...holy cow! They are in an entirely different league! They just sound gorgeous-beautiful highs, smooth mids, and respectable, controlled bass response. I had been interested in the B&W's, the RBH's, and Axiom M60's. I love the sound of the Dali's :D and I am just looking for someone to give me an excellent reason as to why I shouldn't get them instead of the Axiom's...I have a $2500 budget for a 5.1 channel system, but I know that I can't get a new sub if I get a 5 channel Dali system...I'm just not sure I'll care! Advice on this please! How good are the Axiom's really (looking at M60's, VP150, and QS8's along with SVS SB-12 Plus) vs. the Dali Ikon 6's and unsure of center and surrounds??? Help!

You had the "Holy Cow" experience listening to the Dali's. That's all that matters.

In my ever changing 'if I could buy speakers right now what would I buy quest', Dali's have caught my attentions (I've gone from Mordaunt Short-RBH-Canton-Energy-KEF-Dali, only been able to listen to Canton so far). I've spent the last couple of nights seeing what I could find on them, and I haven't found a lot in English, but what I have seen is positive. I don't have a place near by to listen to them, so I can't really offer an opinion on them. Based on your response listening to them, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with them. You may have to wait a bit on the sub, but in the end it will be worth it. Plus, there seems to be new options becoming available all the time with good sub performance for the money (Epik, AV123, etc). If you get the Dali's report back once you have them set up. I've heard people recommend going with the Ikon Vokal 2 for the center no matter what. They also have an on wall speaker available for surrounds if they work for you, might be cheaper then the bookshelves. Good luck.

If you havent already, Check the audition list on the axiom forums to see if anyone is near you where you can listen to them.

I find it strange that the BW had no bass, what was driving them, i have 601 bookshelves and a 2000 yama995 with no tonal adjustment and the bass - mid is excellent(for a 700 pair)

Go for the Dali, IMO better than the Axioms. No need to look any further.

I have no experience with Dali's. Do they have any similarities with Magnepan because of the tweeter.

Different "monsters" all together. Both good in different ways.

I would have to agree with the people posting here, spend your money on the Dali's and put the sub on hold... It will be worth the wait, instead of compromising on speakers. You would much happier in the end knowing you got the speakers you fell in love with...

I listened to the Dali Ikon 6's a couple of years ago. The bass was unreal! But I couldn't deal with the tweeter, it came across too bright for me. But if you had an oh wow experience...GET THEM!

The only thing that matters is what YOUR ears like!:)

I have to wait just a little while-until the tax return comes in. My wife does approve of them with one possible exception-the matching on-wall speakers for the surrounds may be a little large. Gonna make a mock-up from cardboard to show her how "small" they are;). I'm really hoping they aren't as large as they sound like they might be. Got a quote for $2775 for 1pr Ikon 6's, 1 Vokal 2 center, and 1pr Ikon On-Wall's...sound good or should I see if they'll go lower while I'm waiting?

I agree with the others who have posted. Get the Dali's!!! They are great speakers. Don't worry about the Axiom's (been there done that). You've already heard a speaker that you apparently love, so just go for it! Also, the resale value should be better with Dali's vs the Axiom's, if you ever decide to change speakers. Get them now and then save up for an SVS sub! :)

Thanks for the advice/support guys. Perhaps Tom, Gene, or Clint have something to say about Dali's vs. Axiom's (Tom has the M60 system still, correct?).
