I just purchased the Mythos 8 LCR from Newegg for $250. I am wondering if i can use it as a center channel only and use my L and R speakers still? or do i need to use the Mythos 8 as my LCR and then use my other two fronts as front highs? can anyone help?

The Mythos 8 is a single speaker, and so you can use it as a center channel speaker. The "LCR" designation is probably given because it can be used in any of those positions (left, center, or right), though you would need three of them to fill all three positions. For more on this speaker, see:

Mythos Eight | Definitive Technology®

If you have voice-matched Definitive Technology speakers for your main speakers, you will have a voice-matched front three channels with the addition of the speaker you just purchased.

im upgrading slowly from klipsch. so they wont be perfectly matched. yet. But i think the speaker itself has more than one +/- hookup i believe. so thats confusing me

If you go to:

Definitive Technology Mythos Eight Each Home Audio Speaker - Newegg.com

you can click on the three dots next to the pictures, and then on the popup pictures, select the fourth picture (the first one on the second row) and you will see it has one set of connections.

You can also see that they say it has one set of connections if you click on "Details" and scroll down to where it says "Connectors."

You will also see that this is so when you get it and look at it.

It is an ordinary speaker, with one tweeter, two woofers, and two passive radiators. It is not by itself a multichannel speaker.

You can use regular wires. If you wall mount this speaker, you likely won't be able to fit plugs into the back, but if you are shelf mounting it then you will likely find it much easier to use some banana plugs of some sort.

I really like my Mythos 8 speaker. A good low-profile speaker with good output.
