Jurassic Park - Blu-ray

I'm wondering why these films are taking so long to hit Blu-ray. I'd be happy if they just take the Muse (Hi-Vision 1080i) laser disc and just copy it to Blu-ray, maybe upscale it to 1080p.

WUT IS TAKIN SO LONG!!!!?!?!?!

Easy answer, two words: Steven Spielberg

No doubt, he hasn't got a good enough offer.

To my knowledge you can't get ET or any of the Indiana Jones series on BD either.

Maybe coincidence, probably not.

None of the remotely good ones, anyway. You can get the last one on blu-ray...displaying all of it's crappiness in full 1080p. Sweet. I would love for Raiders of the Lost Ark to come out.

After I posted I realized that I actually rented the last one on Blu-ray.

I thought about editing, figured somebody would correct me. :)

If I could afford/find a Muse LD player and the Jurassic Park Hi Vision LD (which is around $100 I think by itself) I would be watching it in HD RIGHT NOW!

I actually still have a Pioneer Dual-Side LD player that I bought for $1K back in the days. I also have the Jurassic Park LDs. They look like crap compared to 1080p HD.:D

What is Spielberg and Lucas doing?

Lazy a$$es.:D

Spielberg put out (or allowed the release of) Close Encounters on BD, but the others are likely going to wait. My guess is we will see Jaws before we see Jurassic Park.

Well considering Lucas made $170 million last year, I'd say he doesn't have much incentive to be anything other than lazy.
What? Lucas worked last year? Doing what? Indian Jones?:D

One thing about Spielberg is he'll want it done right. I think he's probably gonna wait and see if another format takes over.

"Done right" like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Shia LeBeouf's Smiling Mom's Pet Alien CGI Prairie Dogs and Nuclear Bomb-Proof Fridge?

Sorry if I got the title wrong.

Seriously though, I don't know how long it will be, but there are still rumors circulating of the real Indiana Jones series coming to blu-ray in the reasonably near future, so I would imagine JP would follow at some point.

Yeah, seriously, what the frack happened to the new Indian Jones movie?:D

If this is all that Spielberg and Lucas is capable of anymore, they both need to retire and just hand over all their stuffs to someone else.

The other Indiana Jones movies are pretty much like the one they just released. The last one was much better than the temple of doom.

Plus we know how much Spielberg likes Aliens.

The last one as in Crystal Skull? That one was like a B movie to me. It was like one of those other movies trying to be like an Indiana Jones movie and not being successful at it.

Could you imagine what J.J. Abrahms would do if he got ahold of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Jurassic Park? Actually Jurassic Park sequels might be interesting with J.J. behind the camera.:D

The rumor I heard is that Spielberg is working on remastering Jurassic Park and that the Blu-ray is on target for next year.

I've seen an HD broadcast on HBO and it was soft and really grainy. He may not think it's up to snuff for a Blu-ray release.

What do you mean? If they've done a good job with the transfer, I would think it would look really good on Blu-ray.

Jurassic Park would have been a lot better if it were more like Chrichton's book... When Jurassic Park is released on Blu-Ray maybe one of the worst logic/scene goof found in film will be fixed (the T-Rex fence scene)? How that error/loss of logic was left in the film is beyond me. Did Spielberg have a brain lapse or logic breakdown? I definately would be interested in what J.J Abrahms could do with a Jurassic Park title after his Star Trek vision. I still liked Jurassic Park (love dinosaurs), but it could have been so much better.
