June 6th is going to be the roughest day I've got to deal with

34 years ago tomorrow (June 6), my beautiful wife walked down the aisle and we exchanged our wedding vows. I was the happiest man on the planet. Despite losing her to cancer, I'm going to celebrate it. I baked my very 1st cake, iced it with a ton of icing just the way she would have liked it and wrote in pink (her favourite color) "Happy 34th Anniversary Krista" Dam , this is fuccin hard!!!!!!

Good for you @3db! Celebrate in whatever way you think best honours her memory. Our 28th anniversary was the day before on June 5th. Had made plans and booked lodgings several times only to cancel them each time over lock downs due to the pandemic. When Saturday came, my wife was on her family's rural property looking after her mother currently diagnosed with cancer and traveling to the hospital daily to check on her dad who was getting over a blood infection. Their 64th anniversary is this week and it took a monumental effort from my wife and her siblings to get her dad home for their anniversary. It meant the world to him and his wife.

We ended up just going for a couple of hikes in the country and grabbing a couple milk-shakes, happy to have some alone time together. Have to appreciate those little things. I hope that the community here affords some kind of solace in tough times. The fact that you're willing to share something personal says a lot.
