This is an alternate universe type that takes place in the 1800 England, where magic once had been common but has disappeared for the last several hundred years. Now, people meet to talk about it (theoretical magicians) but nobody seems able to do it. Until now.

the settings are great as is the costumes and acting but, I gotta say, sometimes I have a problem hearing through the dialect.

Enter Johnathan Strange, a man who didn't know he is a magician, and a very powerful one at that. so powerful, in fact, that the government drafts him into their service during the Napoleonic wars. Also, he endorses a more ancient, darker type of magic than does Mr Norrell. He initially started out as Mr Norrells apprentice, he quickly far, far outgrew his teachings.

So, with two more episodes to go, I'm out of things to say. The plot is unfolding quite well and there some pretty nifty SFX, bot nothing of a action movie stature.

In any case, catch it On Demand if you can, or o reruns. I'm sure they will rebroadcast this. It's only seven 1:15 episodes and it gets better with each episode. It started out kind of slow but. like a snowball rolling downhill, quickly picks up steam.

And, it makes a great lead into the Graham Norton show.

I watched the first episode but couldn't get into it. It's no Orphan Black that's for sure.

I wish BBC would bring back In The Flesh. I loved that show.
