I am looking at two subs the jbl venue 12" sub and the cerwin vega cls-12s

If those are my only two options, then I pick the JBL. But there are many others that are better. I'd look at SVS myself. I like those cylinder subs.

What are you hoping to do with this sub? If you are looking for something to just be loud for dance parties or something along those lines I would get the CV if you want nice accurate bass...well I wouldn't look at either of those companies. I am partial to SVS as they make a great woofer and I have heard HSU does as well, but haven't had a chance to hear one yet.

What are the dimensions of your room and your listening habits?

My room is 22x10 and I wanted it for home theater but I only have about $350 to spend on a sub. I was also looking at yamaha yst-sw315. I havent heard any of these subs but I want window rattling bass. thanks

Let me go ahead and second this recommendation. Neither of those subs would be on my list to listen to, but of the two it would be the JBL. Why don't we start at the beginning: What is the budget and room size?
