without grills, they look cool from afar. but close-up, they look cheap (not quality, just looks)

the studio L's apparently reach 40khz? because of its ultra-high freq tweeter (it has 2 tweeters)

I never bothered to listen to them, because I just bought my set when they came out here, and I DID NOT want to get buyer's remorse.

although if you put much weight in my audio salesman's opinion, he said he preferred the Infinity Beta series over this JBL studio L

As an additional info, I've, I've found the review on Sound & Vision Magazine site and the Studio L range seems to be pretty good.

There's one thing that pretty much reinforces the above review; i.e., although the L/R/C speakers shows an impedance of 8 ohms on paper, the bench results has proven that they go further down to 3.2 - 4 ohms load instead!!

For that reason only it makes me believe that the Studio L's are pretty damn good ones and most definitely worths an audition!

Impedance varies with frequency, so an 8 Ohm speaker going to 3.2 Ohms is not unusual. The former Studio line was pretty good, and though I have not heard these, I'd expect them to be at least as good as those, though I haven't heard much discussion about them.

Studio L 's

I currently have some of the Studio L series speakers and they sound very very good.

I have the Studio L8400 600 watt Subwoofer, as surrounds I have the L810's.

For HT, these are excellent sounding speakers for a home application. My room is 14 x 19 and I am very pleased with the performance.

I only listen to music in 2 channel with the sub ,and it too sounds amazing.

Hookup:

Harman Kardon AVR630
JBL E 100 main fronts
JBL EC35 Center
JBL Studio L8400 Sub
JBL Studio L810 rear surrounds

Jbl Studio L - Review

Hi,

thanks for the feedback, jeffvee.

On the review (Sound & Vision), the studio's have been highly regarded.

They do emphasize, however, that some caution must be taken when matching those with a receiver, due to their impedance ( basically the fronts & center channles ), as they go down to 3,2 Ohms (they're all spec'ed at 8 Ohms, though).

Have heard a lot of people saying that the higher JBL ranges are pretty damn good ones ( even those who doesn't like them...).

By next week I'll try to audition them somewhere in Orlando, FL.

Cheers / Avliner.
