I'm using a pair of Studio 220s as surrounds in a 5.1 system. They are surprisingly good speakers for the price (normal price is $299.95/pair) They do, of course, have limited bass response.

Yeah, my comment was basically in the "Captain Obvious" category. There's no way a pair of tiny $149 bookshelf speakers with 4" drivers are going to have killer bass, but I figured someone would point out the lack of bass if I didn't mention it.
