Hello everyone...new to the forum. I'm looking for some advice, and input in general. I just purchased a set(4) of JBL CVSAT50 speakers for fronts and rears of a 5.1 system along with a JBL voice center.
First off, any opinions on these speakers....I'm planning on installing them in a 11X17 room with 12 ft ceilings.
Sencondly....in that size room any suggestions for a sub that I can get for around 200 (+/- 50). I know this is a small budget operation but any advice would be appreciated.

For your current budget, you might want to consider:

http://www.amazon.com/JBL-SUB12-12-Inch-500-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B000FBRC6Y/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1213663748&sr=8-1

I actually own one of these, and for the money, it's not bad at all. It gets the job done. However, in my humble opinion, if you can up your budget, there are much better subs to be had. Again, just something to consider, in the end, it's your own personal setup-let your ears guide you. Congrats on your new setup and Happy hunting!

Bah - IMHO, don't waste your money on a JBL Sub-12. You'll end up minus 200 bucks and still yearning for a good low end sound from your system. I owned a Sub-12 myself and was blown away... by it's lack of solid performance. ;)

I would suggest trying to stretch your sub budget a bit further if you could, and check out the following:

Hsu STF-2

Dayton Sub-120 from Parts Express

or even this guy over the JBL Sub-12

AV123 X-sub

Stretch your budget even a bit further and you can get into one of these:

SVS PB10-NSD (This is a real sub by the way, I have the big brother to this one, the PB12-NSD, and I have never been happier with a sub purchase)

I'm sure some others will chime in with other suggestions to help steer you in the right direction. Happy shopping! :)

Hey thanks for the suggestions....That Dayton Sub-120 is currently <$190 shipped...WOW...good price compared to some of the other recommendations you made. Is its performace to price ratio just really good...or am I missing something.
Also what about the BIC H-100...seems to be available shipped for $250.

It isn't that the typical mass market sub isn't that good, it is simply that you can get SO MUCH more for your money from the internet direct companies that it is just insane not to get a sub from them.
