Has anyone heard Selenium tweeters?

JBL SELENIUM

I am thinking of trying one very soon, and I need to know if they are overpriced or if they offer acceptable value.

Any other comments would be appreciate as well.

One of the models I am looking at is the ST200 and ST300 series.

The manufacturer's frequency response graphs are on that page. Click "technical details" to find them, but, can I trust those graphs? lol.

The badge on the products is still just "Selenium", but it appears that JBL owns them now.

OK, the local store only has the ST200, and the rest of them are more expensive and over budget.

I need to know if it will be good or not.

If it is below your standards, tell me if it is at least alright for the price. I may not be able to afford your standard.

The ST200 is a supertweeter with a 40x40 dispersion pattern in its intended passband. The suggested crossover point is 5khz and the frequency response below that would need some work.

Could you get listenable sound out of these with a well implemented crossover? Sure, why not.

But it's a pro sound super tweeter and used outside of that application you'll probably find the highs to have a very specific sweet spot.

What is your intended application?

It is for a home speaker system. I don't think I fully understand what you said about the sweet spot. Could you rephrase it?

I forgot to ask, since you probably aren't familiar with Jamaican prices: Is the $26 price I see for it in the U.S reasonable? (the Jamaican price is so awful because of a duty fee charged on electronics)
