Hi.

I've read on the "Consumer Reviews", from this site, that the JBL PSW-D112 subwoofer give a very good perforamnce for a year or two then stop working forever (or self destroy) from a moment to another. There are many consumers that related this. It really gave me a flea behind my ear. I own this subwoofer since July 1999 and it never gave me any trouble (only with the neighbours), only years of good deep bass and pleasure.

I would like to know what's going on. Will my JBL subwoofer also stop working forever any moment or I'm just lucky ? Have anyone of you had trouble with this subwoofer ?

Thanks and Best Wishes,

Gerald

Well Gerald I can't say how long your D112 will last, but what I can tell you is that ever since I got my two pswd112 subs back in 1999 (just like you) they have been been just great. Not a single problem. I've been playing them loud and strong for the last five years and they are still running. Right after I bought mine I started reading all the good reviews on their performance and all the bad reviews on their longevity. It seems the digital amps just kept blowing on these things. It seems you and I are the last of the d112 owners out there. Lets hope they keep going for a long while.

Hi Bob.

Lately I've heard some very good subwoofers from Yamaha, Velodyne, Polk Audio...but I like very much the bass from my JBL subwoofer and don't think it is only good for techno and movies. Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon", on sacd, sounds fantastic on the strongest bass till the most delicate passages. "Fantasia 2000" Firebird Suite, from Stravinsky, is very impressive and it admires me the power and precision of the low frequencies from the JBL on this track from the dvd. I have many other examples that would make this post too long.

Like fingerprints,no one have the same hearing like another person. I respect your admiration for Yamaha and Velodyne subwoofers. They are really great.

Best Wishes,

Gerald

Bob I have to disagree with you on this. While the PB12 you speak of may be a bad sub for music( I have two PB10 subs that are also bad for music) but my two d112 subs are really nice with music and movies. I've lived with the d112 subs for over 5 yrs and from actually owning these subs I can say they sound nice with music. Sure there not the best subs in the world for music, but they sure aren't bad with music either.
