jbl L830 or control now

Hi Im Jordi, im new to this forum and also pretty new to the joy of enjoying music in a receiver with good speakers. Right now i own a RX V665 Yamaha receiver and have it plugged with 2 front speakers JBL control 28 F and JBL control 25 S, also have a sub ES150PBK. I will be buying center speaker JBL ES25C, i used a single polk audio T150 as a center speaker (doesnt sound good)

Im planning on buying a second receiver, i am thinking on HK3490 with a couple of speakers and a sub. I ve listened JBL control now and ive loved the sound (and will add a ES150PBK later cause of the money) cause of the lack of bass, but also have looked at so many good reviews about the L830, i know that you shouldnt buy speakers unless you hear them sound, but there isnt store where i live that carry those speakers unless you order them but you have to buy them!!!
Im planning in using this receiver to listen to music, pop, rock, jazz, and also to connect it to a tv and digital cable box..

What do you reccomend me?? I know this is subjective but please send me your comments!!! Thanks

Hi,

I can only comment on the Control Now... and I do have to agree I also really like the way these sound although they are just a bit different looking. I use them for surrounds in my system. I did place one of them in center channel duties for awhile when I first got them... and I was very impressed. You can pick these up for $69 shipped from the harmon store on ebay.. refurbished. Thats where I got mine and it arrived in perfect condition. Good luck !!

I've been using a pair of L830s for mains over a year (L810 surrounds and an LC1 center). Do they compare to a pair of Totems (I recently auditioned)? No but I don't think you would expect them to. For the price they are a fine large bookshelf. A bit bright (use a good sub...I'm using an Outlaw LFM1c). They do sound better with decent power. I recently added an Emotiva UPA5 and experienced a lot of improvement, especially in multichannel modes.

Thanks guys for your answers, really haven´t bought the speakers yet but think that i just made my mind, i would like L830 but only have heard control now even as they are not as pretty and are difficult to place i love how they sound.Will have to buy Control now. Just received HK3490 and i´m using some old polk audio t15 bought some years ago, even as it sounds better than the tv speakers i think that i could do more upgrading the speakers!!
