Where to start, How about Hi and thanks for taking the time to help me with my dilemma. Well I am upgrading and revamping my home audio systems. In the same room I have a Klipsch F3 Synergy 5.1 sorround sound. I primarily use this system for blu-ray, everyday TV watching and DVD/Blu-Ray live concerts 5.1 is pushed by a Onkyo a/v reciever. My second system is a bi-amplified set of JBL 4350 Studio Monitors; they are beasts. Primary use for the JBL is for stereo cd listening, source was a 300 disc cd changer. JBL are pushed by 2 amps. Tomorrow im selling the 300 disc cd changer and purchasing the Sony BDP-CX960 Blu-Ray changer. Then my Blu-rays, DVD and CD's will be in one unit. Im selling the Preamp that runs my JBL and leaning toward purchasing the Emotiva XMC-1 to replace it. So getting to the question I want to incorporate the JBL L/R in a 5.1 set up and ill be using the Klipsch center and surround speakers along with its subwoofer. This set up will be used only with the BDP-CX960. Once I revert back to everyday satellite TV watching I want to switch on the full Klipsch 5.1 set up that I originally had. I basically want to get rid of the Onkyo and integrate the new PreAmp for both set of speakers but selecting specific speakers in the process as described above. I will be adding a Emotiva XPA-5 to push the Klipsch 5.1 set up. I need help in configuring this and I know im going to probably need additional components or possibly change the Emotiva products to accomplish this daunting task. Ive thought of some sort of switches but I need more detailed help, I greatly appreciate any help as this is the step before i seek a professional to come to my home to run me an estimate. I have a video on youtube, if you go to my channel (kwazykilla87) you can see my set up. If any questions please ask and thanks again!

Any AV receiver with preouts and assignable triggers will work. Set the triggers to fire only when the input is Sony BDP. Use the receiver amps to power the Klipsch speakers and from the preouts drive the amps that power the JBLs.

If you get a pre-pro, the XPA-5 will be more than sufficient for the Klipsch set. I am not sure if the XMC-1 has two sets of pre-outs to achieve what you need.

Thanks for the reply!

Im glad to hear it can be done i just need a bit more Help on accomplishing this since its something im not familiar with. Im going to test the Onkyo TX-SR805 this weekend to see if i can get it done and see how it sounds. I only hooked up the JBL 4350's to a bluray player and they sounded amazing with only stereo setting on a concert. I figured that if i could accomplish setting up the sourorund, center, and sub Klipsch along with the JBL it would sound even better. Im testing it with the Onkyo first because one concern is if the JBL Front L/R will over power everything else, I dunno. I guess i should try it out with something i have before I drop a couple grand on a new pre/amp. So I have a PreOut 7.1 on the back of the Onkyo along with a 2 channel zone 2 and 3. the Onkyo has a 12v trigger out zone 2. Could you tell me where i go from here? The JBL electronic crossover input goes to where on the Onkyo's pre out? Unfortunatly im not familiar with triggers or how to assign them is that dont in the setting of the recievers menu. Thanks a bunch buddy !!

Ive also been doing some research on the XMC-1 and im starting to lean more to the UMC-1. Not looking forward to the bugs and updates, Ill probably never use thier TACT system nor do I need 3d capability. As a Pre/amp im figuring the UMC-1 is superior to my current Onkyo TX-SR805? I feel like Onkyo really lacks in the audio processing of DTS, Dolby etc. Im hoping the UMC-1 will perform beyond what I have. Could you give me your opinion and let me know if the UMC-1 would have the proper inputs/outputs to accomplish the set up that has been discussed thanks!!
