Jamo THX sub - do I need 2

I have the full Jamo D7 THX Ultra2 Setup - with 7 speakers and 2 subs.

The problem I'm running into is that I'm reorganizing my setup, from a set home theater room to more of a living room / home theater. The dedicated room I was using before has to be converted to a guest room/office for my wife, so all my equipment is being kicked out

The living room is 14 feet wide by 19 feet long, which I think may be too small for 2 subs.

Thoughts?

Personally, after having two subs, I’d find it hard to go back to one. Size wise, one sub should be sufficient if your living room is enclosed. However, since you have the two, you can try the setup with just the one and see if it is satisfactory.

I'm going to have to give it a try. I figure worst case I'll keep or sell one depending on what sounds best (and what the wife will allow).

I'm just noticing that for years one sub was the norm, now everyone swears by the two sub setup.

I am running 2 subs in a liittle more area than you and I would highly recommend you stay with 2 subs. Try it both ways and see how you like it.

are you running your subs in a mono setup or a stereo setup?

Mono. 1st Velo VA-1250X sub (12" active & 15" passive) and there 2nd sub is a Velo CT-150 15" sub. They work very well together.

So does your pre-amp/receiver have one sub output and you're piggy backing your subs?

Running mono, single sub-out split with Y-cable.

Same as AVRat for hookup and the subs are on 1 on the left and 1 on the right of the center channel.

I'll have to play with it and see if it makes a difference.

My preamp is a NAD C162 which has two sub outputs, and I'm wondering if the sound is different on this amp if I'm running only one sub.
