I have never heard these receivers either, though I have been fueling some of the discussion on them. There are still places on the net that are selling them for full price. The press seems to be pretty positive. I don't know of another receiver for $299 that will provide 100 watts per channel, has a toroidal power supply, and will drive a 4 ohm load (180 @ 4 ohm). It has all of the current surround sound fields (Pro logic IIx, etc.)
It offers some good things like component video switching, but no word if it offers conveniences like a second zone (powered or otherwise.) If you decide to try this unit make sure of 2 things. First, that it has enough inputs for your needs; Second that you give us a review after you get it going.
I will say this, even though I am not looking for a receiver, if I could scrape up the money, I would buy one & the DVD player just to test them out. Unfortunately I B Po.
