The Jamo AVR-693 is a 6.1 channel model, delivering 6 x 120W (6 ohms) while the AVR-793 is a 7.1 channel device, delivering 7 x 135W (6 ohms). Features include Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, DTS-ES, 192kHz/24-bit DACs and a six-step low frequency crossover as well as individual bass management for front, surround and center channels.

Geez, I'd buy them on looks alone. They have that early '70s Marantz thing going on IMO. I've always liked that look.

JAMO is one of those companies that evidently sprung up during my long "audio slumber" so I know little about them except that they've mainly been a good speaker company, right? So it would be interesting to know in any followup you do if they're doing their own engineering and/or manufacturing of these components or not.

I have the DVR 50, and its the best I have bought in a while

I have the DVR-50 in my Bedroom and this thing is wonderful I fell in love with Jamo products when I was a kid and I think they sound just as good if not better than brands that cost far more. With the DVR 50 in the Bedroom I have the A355 for the front speakers, A3 ADD for the Sub, center, and rear sats. I actually got them bundled together but the Jamo website doesn’t have them listed as such. I intend on getting the Jamo Plasma to complete the look in the bedroom.

I also have Jamo in the living room. E-855 Reference towers (I actually chose these over Polk Rti10, kefs 70, Boston acoustic, and a pair of Canton speaker that I listened to.) I had a cap of 1500 dollars and these things blow my mind! They also have a very small foot print, with a very big sound! If you are in the market for some towers under 1000.00 bucks you cant go wrong! With the E-855, I have the E 8 Cen.2 for the center, E 8 Sub.2 for the sub, E 8 Sur.2 Right/Left for rear channels. Mated to HK DPR 1001, DVD 101,and Voom HD SAT. I plan to replace the HK products with the new Jamo products; I’m looking forward to seeing these products in person

Warm Regards
Christopher

Jamo : what's best ? DVR-50 or DVD-593 + AVR-693/793 ?

All is in the question : does anyone have an idea which is best ? A combined DVD+amp+tuner like the Jame DVR-50, or the combination of a DVD player (DVD-593) & an amp (AVR-693/793) ?

It depends on your use

The DVR-50 is great for my bedroom, along with the matched jamo speakers. I would use the seperates for my Living/TV room set-up, you have many more option and inputs to give your hometheater room to grow. I actually will replace the HK products I have right now with the new Jamo receiver and dvd
