Thank you guys for reading this thread.

I have reciever - Yamaha rxv 661 95~105 w/ channel - 7.1 ch reciever.

I have yamaha ns8900 tower speakers - 6 ohm/200W/89db

& ns-p8900 center & surround speakers. 86db/100w/6ohm

I dont have a sub woofer.

I listen to music 80% of times & prefer good bass.

I heard the sound of DSW pro 500 polk audio sub woofer but did'nt felt the bass was up to the mark.

Now guys i want more sound from my amp & good bass. I like my muisc LOUD..... please gimme suggestions as i am new to recievers & speakers systems.
Should i go for

Option 1#
Jamo s718 tower which has 92db sensitivity/10inch woofer/6 ohm

OR
Option 2#

Yamaha ns 777 tower 89 db/2 x 8" woofer/6 ohm

Or
Option 3#

buy a 12" woofer like yamaha yst sw1500 or polk audio DSW pro 600.

Also please lemme know if there would be a problem with speaker matching, should i use the new tower speakers as front or surround to complete my 7 channel setup.

Help needed....Thanks in advance...

Speaker matching of timbre is only critical for the Left, Right, and Center speaker in HT but all speakers need to be timbre matched if doing multichannel audio. You need to decide which way you want your system to go; HT + 2 channel music or HT +multichannel audio.

How concernd are you for accuracy of sound? If all you wanted is loud bass, just get a pair of Cerwin Vegas and you'l get lots of loud sloppy bass. Other than loud, what else are you looking for? Whats wrong with your current system that tyou don't like? Have you played with speaker positioning relative to the room and to your sitting position? Need more info!!

First of all thnaks guys for replying.
I am located in India and over here we dont have much options, the speakers that u guys get in US & UK we have to pay double the price cause of the taxes. So for us its either don't buy or sell ur body parts to buy stuffs.

Hey the current system is OK i do get more BASS but i want more room filling sound.

So guys what i was asking is i want good quality sound with more room filling power.
I have 2 tower speakers already as mentioned above so should i buy
2 tower from jamo s718
Or from yamaha ns 777
Or those towers will not help and should i go with powerful subs.

U guys please guide after all u guys are the pro's. thanks..

Speaker options

Nice receiver.
Yamaha is not exactly know for their speakers. Can you find B&W, Paradigm, or Klipsch over there? Klipsch in perticular have a high efficiency so they play louder with less power.

Even if you have floorstanders, I would recomend a good sub for HT. Look for Velodyne, JL Audio, etc.

I am experiencing some cognitive dissonance here, as a result of seeing Jamo and Yamaha speakers mentioned together as if they were comparable. Jamo speakers are vastly better.

Yamaha did make a pair of speakers that had a cult following in the US. I have to dig a little to find what they were called but they were supposedly an excellent speaker that was comparable to the Paradigms, PSBs , Boston Acoustics etc..

If you are happy with the sound of your yamaha speakers, then just get a sub. No need to spend extra money if you are already happy with the sound. If you do decide to replace the Yamahas, you will beed to replace the center channel and the left and right channels as well.

If tax is a problem, why JAMO??? Because they are European? They are a good speaker, but if available locally you might want to consider Monitor Audio (UK), KEF (UK), and Triangle (France). All three make better speakers than Yamaha and Jamo. Don't know if Jamo is a great improvement over your current Yamaha. I wouldn't change them without auditioning.

I have listened to both the NS-777 towers and the YST-SW1500

the towers are great, but will never match a subwoofer with bass.

so you should get a subwoofer, is velodyne available there? (i'm from manila, so our choices should be the same)

the SW1500 can only do down to 25hz I think
http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/subwoofer-tests/8145-yamaha-yst-sw1500-new.html

not that it matters for music, but there are cheaper alternatives from Velodyne e.g. CHT-15R

JAMO is a open baffle di-pole correct? I f so do you have room for proper placement (a few feet from wall behind them)

Thank you guys all, for you pro advices...

U guys have thrown much light on the speakers. Ok i have narrowed my choices.

Its either this speaker or i am getting a sub.
Jamo speakers s718 have 1" tweeter, 2x 6.5 midrange, 10" woofers on its side & very high gain of 92db, so will that give me more bass and a full range sound boost. Also how good are Jamo speakers in general.
I have searched on the internet and there are no reviews on this Jamo model. Costing 26,500 Rs at my place.

OR

Should i go only with Subwoofer. if yes then
I have 3 subs in my mind.
1) Polk Audio DSW PRO 600 - 12" woofer - for 28,000 Rs
2) JBL - E250P - 12" - 28,000 Rs
3) Yamaha YST 1500 - 12" but expensive - 40000 Rs

Jamo is owed by Klipsch which makes them American.

Try to use NS-525F

Hi there,
Have you decide to buy the floorstander speaker?
If not, try to find floorstander Yamaha NS-525F. This is much more better than NS-777. I compare them both just before I decide to buy the speaker.
The material of NS-525F (advance PMD) is more better than NS-777 (PMD, which is used for NS-515). Look at the weight of them NS-777 (about 20lbs or 10kgs) is just half of NS-525 (about 44lbs or 22kgs). My suggestion before you decide to buy the speaker. Try to replace the AV-Receiver with at least Yamaha RXV1500 or higher, and set the crossover to the lowest (40Hz). Then LFE should be set to both front and Sub Woofer. And don't forget to set all speaker to "Large". This should be better bass and more better day by day due to break-in of all the system. For the sub-woofer, how big is your hearing room? You better compare the subwoofer YST315, YST515. I have heard all the Yamaha sub-woofer, for me the smoothest bass is YST 315
Some time more expensive is not more better.
Anyway, I agree with jcPanny to look and think about B&W speaker. Better sound with less power, even the size is much more smaller. I use them to replace all my 7.1 system. It sound much more better with the same AV receiver. Before replacing the speaker, I use Yamaha NS-525 as front. NSC-525 as center and NS-50F for side surround and NS-E55 for back surround.
Replace with B&W:602,601,600 series. It improve the sound a lot.
BTW, what kind of Player that you use to?

No, not really.

Jamo and Klipsch still remain seperate operations.

Jamo does what they do, the way they want to. It's more of a symbiotic relationship...or partnership; than Klipsch simply owning them.

Seriously, I have no life.
"he SW1500 can only do down to 25hz I think"

Not to be argumentative but how much deeper is needed for most program material? If the room isn't set up acoustically, 25 HZ will never be audible.

Its not about audible ....Its about Feeling the 15 hz....The current movie industry has things going down to 10hz in some movies..You need a sub that at least goes to 20hz for great low end reproduction.....IMO of course....:D
