I have never been more frustrated or shouted more unmentionable things at my computer screen than I have at iTunes. Everything about it is crap!

Slower than slow.

Always wants to determine gapless playback or get album artwork or some damn thing that i dont want or need that makes it run even slower and then when you go to click the little X to make it stop.. well that doesnt seeem to register for about 5 minutes.

Searching a song is useless. You have to delete whatever is in the search box before you can see your library again.

Sometimes it decides that I didnt really want to listen to all the songs i painstakinly put onto my shuffle and erases them so that instead i can listen to all the obscure stuff in my library I hate.

there is not one single little itty bitty thing about itunes that is redeeming!

Maybe its just me but Winamp is WAY BETTER. Fast. Doesnt want to calculate useless crap. When I search for something its much better... When you have a library of nearly 20,000 songs its ridiculous!

LOL, I've been there man. I guess I've just grown accustom to Itunes and it's somewhat slow response. I have 19k songs also and am afraid to try anything new, would hate to lose my collection transfering it to a new setup.

I'm no fan of iTunes and do use WinAmp but Search? WinAmp is about as dumb as it gets. You have to Alt-J or something like that to bring up the search dialog and start entering characters. How about pressing a letter on the keyboard when the playlist has focus? WinAmp has two zillion features and none of them are intuitive or follow the normal Windows conventions that most of us are very familar with.

Don't get me started on WinAmp's 'random play' feature. I believe it randomly picks an artist and then a song within that artist. Thus it favors artists for which you have a lot of songs. 'Random' play plays Journey over and over because I have several dozen Journey songs. It's also fond of The Who and Ozzie. Random? No, not quite.

The point is that nothing is perfect.

I feel your pain, but I guess I've grown accustomed to the little annoyances as much as anyone, and I can browse my library or the iTunes store without much hassle at all.

You know what continues to peeve me though? Why is it every other day they come out with a new freaking update, which requires a reinstall, reboot, all the crap. Why can't they just wait and combine all these updates into a new version as long as the current version is functioning properly enough on all platforms, including Vista so we're not being pestered constantly about installing iTunes 7.3.8.2.2.2.1.a.z.8.giraffe.3.12?? It's ridiculous.

Buy a Mac!! I'm on my 2nd Mac laptop after owning a couple PC laptops, and I can attest to the fact that iTunes runs 1000x better on a mac than on a PC. I don't have any problems with delays or downloads slowing down my computer, the search box works fantastic, and I love the shuffle functionality.

I do think there is something to be said for the fact that iTunes is based on a Mac interface, which I don't believe meshes as well with Windows.

It sounds like alot of RAM is being used. Hit run, msconfig, startup. Uncheck the ones you dont use. Also, do a virus/adware/spyware check, disk defragmenter, disk cleanup. Hit ctrl+alt+del and find out whats taking so much memory/CPU usage. Itunes should not be running that slow.

I have 1.5gb of ram, There is not a single other program with bogs down like that one. I know that it does run incredibly slower when using my shuffle compared to when I had a "real" ipod hooked up to it but its even slow when I dont have the ipod plugged in. I even went through all the preferences and unchecked everything thats not needed.. Which was basically everything.

To search winamp you simply hit the del key on the numberpad. It brings up a box, Type in what you want and it shows anything in that box that matches what you typed. Hit one and it jumps to that track. Awesome!

Itunes is pretty bad with their updates but, Winamp is probably worse. It seems like once a week it wants to update a new version

Also when I add things to my library in winamp I can just hit clear playlist, Then load folder and it loads all the songs in about 10 seconds. Itunes takes forever to do it that way!

I don't like Itunes. Since I don't own an Ipod I don't have to use it. :D I much prefer Windows Media Player 11. Searching is instant. Results show up as you type. The layout is logical and everything is easy to use. It's also quick to respond and doesn't use a large amount of system resources.

Once you learn the program, it gets better. I haven't had a problem with iTunes in the past 3 years I've been using it. As long as you're aware of the sync issues, everything's good.

I actually enjoy iTunes. Song search is easy. The only downfall is that it doesn't support Flac codec. :(

iTunes has crap running in your background slowing down your system (hence the slowness while on iTunes). Look at iTunes this way, it's the most blindly accepted computer virus in the world.;)

iTunes is indeed crap. It's slower than slow on a Windows system, but still frustratingly slow compared on OSX. I think Media Monkey is one program I've used that tries to do a lot of what iTunes does and overall gets it better.

Another issue with iTunes is it tries to do too much and has a scatterbrained layout. It's really not a very friendly or enjoyable program to use when there are so many better examples.

I don't notice any lagging. My computer isn't a powerhouse either: Core 2 duo, 1.83, 2gb ram, 250hdd.

I've been using MP3s longer than iTunes has existed. I use iTunes (unfortunately) on my Mac because I really haven't found another program for OSX that I've really liked any better yet, and I can't ask around much because everyone else seems content to use that bloated disorganized mess.

Much better than my dual 933mhz Pentium IIIs and my 640 MB of SD ram.:D I wouldn't even dream of putting iTunes on my already troubled PC.

Remember; it was FREE!!! MAGICAL WORD!!! FREE :D :D :D :D lol

Yeah... that thing really needs to go to goodwill or something. I'm thinking it might have a bad cap on the board that isn't rearing it's ugly head yet.

I have an Ipod that I use occasionally, but I would never install that cr@ppy Itunes, because I hate it so much....

I use a program called MediaMonkey, which is much smoother, and it allows you to remove music from the ipod as well...

Great little proggy....

Maybe that might help.... Good luck

***Edit *** I see emorphion already suggested that one ****

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I can put songs on my shuffle with winamp quite easily but for some reason it doesnt work quite right. I can dump 80 songs on there and it will only play the same 10 of them...
