It looks like Amazon is going to try and take on Monoprice...

Amazon started their own basic electronics branding and kind of appears they have seen the glory of Monoprice and want a piece. We will see if they can actually match or beat Monoprice in prices, quality, or service. This should be interesting...

This is going to totally sound like I work at monoprice but:

I have to say that's going to be rather tough. I have bought quite a number of cables from monoprice and have been more than satisfied with them. They have me when it comes to cust. loyalty.

For my analog cables I used to go with bettercables because they had a ebay store and with the bing cashback it made them affordable.

For you and me, this is the case. I too am a loyal Monoprice customer, but we Audioholics are kind of "in the know."

Unfortunately, I can see this Amazon thing showing up Monoprice easily because Amazon has some major marketing abilities. This is simply due to the fact that so many people simply visit their site every day, so all they need is a homepage link to their AmazonBasics products. This will give more exposure of Amazon's products to the BB/Walmart/Amazon shopping crowd that have never and probably will never hear of Monoprice.

Hopefully they'll drop their prices a bit. I very much enjoy the free two-day shipping that I get with Prime.

That would be nice. If not, I will be able to get really cheap overnight shipping from those guys at Monoprice in a matter of months, considering I will be living much nearer their headquarters. :)

What would be really funny is if they were simply rebranding monoprice stuff and selling it as their own.

I have a feeling they will do pretty. There are a number of people out there that buy equipment from Amazon and if they can get half of them to buy a cable too they will be set. Why promote someone else's product when you can promote your own.

I'm a fan of both sites myself, so hopefully a little competition will benefit the consumer.

The gaudy Amazon logo on them leaves me a bit cold.
I'm a big Monoprice fan. Next time I need a few cables I might try out the Amazon brand but we'll see.

Their RCA cables seem to be their own design. But, China will supply whomever wants to buy it;):D Hopefully it is bad news for the monster:D:D

Yeah, those logos are HUGE. :D
Sure, why not:D It doesn't let you forget where it came from:D
And, people with eye trouble can also enjoy the logo without straining.:D

I enjoy shopping at Amazon, but quite frankly with all do respect to Amazon, this new 'Amazon basics" sucks, IMO. They have hardly any selection of items compared to Monoprice, and who knows about the quality. That being said, they may add to their selection over time and the quality may be just fine. But as for right now, Monoprice is still the way to go. I do think Amazon will still sell a ton because of their exposure, but savvy shoppers know and trust Monoprice. :)

I will say that one thing the Amazon cables have going for them is the frustration free packaging :). Man, I hate trying to open some of these blister packs nowadays. Some of 'em are more impenetrable than Fort Knox!

I would rather see monoprice not be bought out by amazon. But amazon has always offered me the best of prices and I'm sure they would do the same for cables.

Monoprice prices seem better from what I saw.
If this helps keep people from wasting money on monSter and stupid high cables then I call that a win.

As mush as I like Amazon and order from them; I refrush to buy anything from them after thanksgiving. It seem around then they start higher a bunch of seasonal workers who don't give a damn about how things are packaged. This just isn't me, I noticed it with a few other people also. Luckily the things that did arrive damaged either were protected by the manufacturers packaging or were non-breakable (books ect).

Monoprice has been doing this already. It's nothing new. All marketing.
AND, Monoprice has better prices (including shipping).
