Good morning all,
Well Christmas has come and gone and I now have a brand new Toshiba HD DVD to include in my home theater. I assumed that it would be a sime plug and play since my system was already had a DVD player working through the HDMI on the receiver. But no joy and 6 hours of a Friday squandered away.
Here is the equipment:
1.) AV Multichannel Receiver: Pioneer Elite VSX-74TXVi
2.) HD DVD Player: Toshiba HD DVD HD-A30KU
3.) TV / Projectors: Sony VPL-HS50
From what I have read everything should be compatible. I searched the internet to see if there was a firmware upgrade to the Pioneer but could not find one.
So any thoughts? Anyone have the same equipment with success? Thanks in advance.

Yours is the second post with this type of issue since Christmas. I bet this is a HDCP compliant issue. The pioneer is not giving the Toshiba HD the right repeater handshakes. You might be lucky and solve it with HDMI 1,3 version cables from Blue Jeans.
Do this test. Connect the Toshiba HD directly to the TV via HDMI and see if it works. It likely will. If it does then your Pioneer is not sending the six digital keys to the Toshiba correctly or frequently enough. If there is no software up grade for your Pioneer that will correct this you will be SOL.
This whole issue is a mess and the Unsatisfactory people who inhabit Hollywood are responsible. Please see my previous posts about this. I bet we will have an avalanche of this in the near future.
