I'm hoping someone can answer this one, I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I own an Onkyo tx nr905 receiver. Whenever I upconvert on downconvert any signal from any source, the panel display shows "HDMI through". I'm not sure if Onkyo just didn't think it through as to what to display on the panel or if there is a problem with the Reon scaler. If I press the display button on the receiver it shows the correct scaling of the source (i.e.-if scaling a 480p signal to 1080p, the display is 480p/60->1080p/60). I can definitely notice a change in pq between setting the source to pass through the receiver and using the reon scaler. I contacted Onkyo cs, and wow, was that a mistake. One rep wasn't entirely certain of the problem and in the end he assumed there was a problem with the scaler, and another rep said they would try to duplicate the problem and call me back. Of course, I never received a call. So, at this point, I have no confidence in their cs department. An authorized service dealer wasn't any help at all either. I've found that Integra owners have the same issue. Does anyone know if this is what the panel is supposed to display or if Onkyo just didn't think it through as to what to display on the panel. Also, does anyone know if there is a technician's service menu or diagnostic menu and how to get to it? ANY help is greatly appreciated!
