Still new at this. Is there any reason to invest in any of the various isolation systems that I have seen advertised. The "Soft School" says that absorbent materials keep external noise from interferring with system components. The "Hard School" says dense materials (cone feet) transmit internal noise away from components. Any truth to either of these schools of thought or are they both just a bunch of malarky.

Are these for under components such as CD, amps, etc? Then, it is audio bs, voodoo of the first kind.

...to isolate a TT...and tubed gear may become microphonic (change the tubes, they're headed south)...but as mtry said, other components require no such coddling...

Look at it like this...soft says this, hard says this...they are in direct conflict with each other...it's just like using a cable cooker on cryogenically treated parts...makes no sense...
