Is Vizio the way to go...

Lets face it there is a lot of bands out there to choose from... Right. So what's wrong with Vizio? My first impression was... "That TV looks pretty sharp". And the picture... well in the store they all look so so.

I own a 42" Panasonic and I'm pleased with it. But what BIGGER, maybe a 50 or >".

Should I try Vizio or stay with the hype of Panasonic?? Or is it hype?

You tell me... Is this TV the real deal or not.

I had a vp42 vizio, well two actually, the first had an electronic problem where it hummed constantly sometimes whining so high that it could be heard over my sound system. The second, after an exchange at coscto, had this problem to a far lesser extent but the blacks where horrible any scene that had blacks was plagued with red pixels scattered throughout. In the end I returned the vizio and bought a good tv. Also, comparing Panny and Vizio is like comparing apples and oranges the only similarity is they are flatscreens.

I say its worth the extra money. I spent nearly 40% more on my new tv and feel like I got a much better deal than I ever did with vizio.

I have the Vizio GV42L, 42" LCD. I'm quite pleased with it, no real problems with it. It gets a lot of use since it is in the family room. I don't think I would put it in my home theater, but for an everyday TV it does the job and the price was really worth it. On standard DVDs in 480p the picture is very sharp and clear. On HD TV broadcasts, like Discovery HD, it is breathtakingly clear. However, the damn edge enhancement is often distracting and can't be disabled.

At Costco last week I saw the new Vizio 1080p LCD and it too looked pretty sweet. If I hadn't already bought mine I would buy the 1080p panel.

Now for my media room, I'm either going with the Sharp 92U or the Samsung 4665F.
