Hello,

I am thinking of upgrading my speakers. My receiver is an almost brand new Sony 2 channel (100 watts per channel). Here is a link to it.

Amazon.com: Sony STR-DH100 2-Channel Audio Receiver (Black): Electronics

I am thinking of getting a pair of Sony SSF-7000 speakers. Here is a link:

I'm a newbie. Is this going to be too much speaker for my receiver? If not, do you think the sound will be compromised?

It will work fine.
The speakers are 8 Ohm which is easy to drive.

DITTO they will work OK together. I would purchased a sub next if you don't have one. Most towers with 8" woofers just donot have the Bass for good music and for Movies a sub is a Must if you like special effects to shake the room:)
Enjoy.

while I have my reservations about the sony, i honestly think you can do better as far as speakers are concerned.

Look into the Pioneer FS51s for example.
