I went thru the Chinese cell phone spam last nite & deleted them. In truth I'd have done it sooner, but as I'm new to the Mod panel it took a little while to figure out how to do it!
Everyone, please bear in mind that since anyone is free to post, we pretty much are reactive, not proactive. If someone emails a notification, I try to get on it right away, but if I'm not online at the time it may take awhile before I get the message. Gene & the guys can't really prevent these posts; you could ban the poster but he could easily repost the stuff under a different name, or as "unregistered."
As for the ad links, I'm not crazy about 'em either, but they pay the bills. The site owners have stated they're going to pare 'em back a bit, and of course just don't click on 'em if you don't want to. Yes, a post with a bunch of them can be a bit harder to follow, but a lot of sites are going to them. I wish they at least were all audio or HT related, but hey, if it helps to keep the site active it's a small price to pay. I'm constantly amazed by the amount of new, high quality, exclusive content added to this site on an almost-daily basis. Look at the
Soundstage site sometime- nothing ever changes. It's only updated once per month, and even then you get maybe one hardware feature, one movie & one music review, plus perhaps one editorial.
