Is this an advertisement site?

I'm new to Audioholics, but I wasn't under the impression that this was an advertisement site for the likes of Junli selling their mobile phones and others pandering their assorted goods. If this is what's allowed to be posted here, I'll defer to AVS for Audio and Video related information. I'll come here if I'm looking for a new phone.

BTW, I hate that "key terms/words" are highlighted with a cheesy link. Lame.

Hmmm...

Add Davidlee to the list of "sellers from China" spamming this site. It's bogus that this stuff even makes it to the boards, much less stays there.

Both myself and senior staff rarely have time to police these forums for spammers and advertisers. This is why we have moderators. Our moderators are kind enough, on their own time to help us here. Anybody noticing blatant spam violations, please send us or our moderators such links and we will ban the offenders.

As for the integrated text links on the site, we are trying out a new affiliate linking program. We have to pay the bills and if they bother you, simply don't click them. The green links are those links. All blue links are ours.

I went thru the Chinese cell phone spam last nite & deleted them. In truth I'd have done it sooner, but as I'm new to the Mod panel it took a little while to figure out how to do it! ;)

Everyone, please bear in mind that since anyone is free to post, we pretty much are reactive, not proactive. If someone emails a notification, I try to get on it right away, but if I'm not online at the time it may take awhile before I get the message. Gene & the guys can't really prevent these posts; you could ban the poster but he could easily repost the stuff under a different name, or as "unregistered."

As for the ad links, I'm not crazy about 'em either, but they pay the bills. The site owners have stated they're going to pare 'em back a bit, and of course just don't click on 'em if you don't want to. Yes, a post with a bunch of them can be a bit harder to follow, but a lot of sites are going to them. I wish they at least were all audio or HT related, but hey, if it helps to keep the site active it's a small price to pay. I'm constantly amazed by the amount of new, high quality, exclusive content added to this site on an almost-daily basis. Look at the Soundstage site sometime- nothing ever changes. It's only updated once per month, and even then you get maybe one hardware feature, one movie & one music review, plus perhaps one editorial.

Jason,

It would be nice if you and other members would start threads in the designated areas. This thread would have been better suited for the Steam Vent.
This area is designed for complaints about this site or anything else that might be bothering you. FYI Several moderators spent quite a bit of time cleaning up Mr. Cellphone Spams mess up. I am sorry if it wasn't timely enough for you. :(

Ahhhhh, the.......... green............. words. Burning into my brain. Must............Buy..........................New.......Cell Phone!

Attention Moderators!!!! What if the green links were set up to where the only way to see the advert is to click on them or drag your mouse over them? Now that would be a great idea! Man, you guys are lucky you have someone like me to bring these things to your attention and give solutions. I doubt anyone could whine about that?

Holy Crappolla, you guys are fast. I'm not even finished with my post and my idea has been implemented. Do I get a comission?

Ooooo! What about this? A section of forums for people to post their reviews of various products. You could have a forum for Amps, speakers, etc. Man, they just keep coming. I need to start writing these down.

Seriously though, someone's always got to gripe. You guys have been doing a great job.
