Is this amp adequate for the paradigm 100

My father has purchased the paradigm 100 speakers and has a denon receiver , not sure which model, but i believe its the 130 watt per channel one.

He is questioning me about the need for a better amp to make these new speakers shine.

its even unclear to me whether the denon can handle the low impedance speakers of this nature

any help here would be appreciated, if a high power and quality amp is recommended please include a AMP that would surfice, that would would make these new speakers shine.

HE has the studio 100's yes and the center channel paradigm recomends with these and subwoofer and the rear are paradigm as well

he has the avr 5800 denon i believe

any 5000 series Denon should be fine for all but the most inefficient speakers and deaf listeners; of course a nice external power amp would be superior, but that Denon model was their flagship model at the time and has a nice power supply. Unless you want to remove picture frames from the wall; you should be all set.

i have had my eye on the signature 8 from paradigm for some time, read the reviews, checked the web, & listened to the demos at the dealer 10+ times, powered by BK amp 125.2, and while i liked the sound & the detail, i found myself almost bored at the dealer listening to them. so this weekend i took them home for a demo. my system is an avm 30, krell kav 2250 for the fronts, cary cinema 5 for the rest. i tried it with both the krell & the cary & it sounded fantastic, the detail remained but now the sound had body as well. i'm looking at the 100's to use as centers & for surrounds & will eventually demo those at home as well (don't hold your breath it's going to be awhile). the paradigm's are more difficult to drive than my klipsch rf-7, and need as much quality amplification you can through at them. from experience i would recommend krell or cary audio. cary makes 2, 3 & 5 channel amps from about 2000-2500 for the 2 channel msrp, & a good dealer should knock a good amount off that. months ago i did hear the 100's with a want to say a krell showcase amp & the sound caught my attention, that's what caused me to take a look at the sig 8.

I was running my studio 60 v3s with a yamaha reciver and it sounded real good. I switched up to an Odyssey Khartgo and the difference has been great! I think the Studio speakers really like a good amount of current. When I switched it up I got much better sound at lower levels.

Every time this question is asked I end up repeating myself by telling the same story because I happened to have compared the performance of the Studio line’s V3 speakers using a RX-V2400 receiver and Anthem high power separates, by switching cables back and forth. Both jazz (Patricia Barber’s CD, and classical music CD were used in the listening session. The difference in sound quality was hardly noticeable when I listened really hard, along with a few other friends.

As I said more than once before, I do believe there are people such as indcrimdefense (I do recognize that he based his findings on experience) who have the ability to sense what may seem minute difference to me, as something more significant, or even huge, as many others had reported in this forum. In the listening session I am referring to, whatever the difference we noticed, did not appear to be due to more/lack of power.

As to whether a Denon 5800 has the power, I would think that even the 3800 series Denon should be fine for those speakers unless you have them all around, i.e. 7, in a large room and you listen to 5 or even 7CH stereo mode. With the 5800, he should be fine regardless, unless the room is really big. People may want to raise the current capability issue, I measured the peak currents of my 3805 and two power amplifiers twice, using music CDs. They all delivered the same current (within decimal points) during those split second moments when the music demanded high current bursts. That little experiment did not fully demonstrate the current capability of the gear, but it gave me some ideas as to whether they are good enough for what I need. Surely some speakers are hard to drive but relatively speaking, the Studios are not. Paradigm sells tons of them, naturally they want them to sound their best to most people without costing them a fortune in amp/receiver upgrades.

yes?

if you have a subwoofer you will crossover at 80hz, i don't see why the 2307 can't handle the studio 100's.

but if you have the extra cash, external amps will give you ease of mind.

I am looking for a power amp for about 6 to 800 beans.maybe 200 wpc,2 to 5 channels and i live in canada.Something that will make my spkers shine when i crank up the tunes or watch good action movie.any suggestions would be great.I also just want a great sounding system so i can enjoy for years to come.

yeah i just put myself on the pre order list for may 2008.Either they email a quote or ill look around here for a decent amp.I had a chance to talk to a rep from anthem/paradigm and he told me to get an amp for the studio 100s because they dip into the 4 ohms when listening to loud tunes or ht movies.Ill get better sq with my reciever hooked up to an decent amp.He showed me a athem amp(i think it was a pva5 125 w/c or 200 w/c at 4ohms or something).The other salesman said i could get the demo for $1200 and it was on sale for $1650.I didnt have the cash on me but i get paid tommorow so i might check it out again.Its kinda over my budget and was wondering if it was a good idea.My girlfriend thinks i have an addiction to ht.
