Hello all!
I just wanted to get your opinion on this setup since I am a audio noob.

My original thought was to go with the HTIB Onkyo HT-S5200. From what I have read, HTIB is not the way to go. I have increased my budget to about $800

So I was thinking about going with the

Yamaha RX-v565 receiver (329.99)

and go with the speakers of

Polk Audio RM87 which comes with a free sub (PSW111) for $499.99

My question is this a good set up? Also, at this time at 7 speaker set up so I was thinking I could just purchase another pair of speakers once we get a house and out of the apartment.

Any advice would help!

Thanks

The important thing to remember is does the systems sound good to you? One of the things to remember about HT is that it is a life long passion. There are always going to be updates, new tech, new features, etc. This site also has reviews of HTIB packages. The best thing to do is to try out the speakers in a showroom so you can get an idea of how they may sound.

Since you are in an apartment my guess is that your main listening area is on the small side. In that case a HTIB might work for the time being. Or you may be better off saving the $800 towards the downpayment on the house. That way your house is your foundation for your home theatre.
