Is this a good 2.1 system?

I wan't a good 2.1 system for listening to music and the occasional movie. I already have a Polk Audio 150 watt sub woofer. I like the AVR and tower speakers below. Are they a good selection?

I would try for a different speaker. The lower end Polk's don't sound good to me. I would be looking at Infinity Primus or Pioneer SP speakers instead.

The dog in your picture looks a bit overweight, lol. The Deftech 45s don't look like bad speakers.

I hope that the newer version of that receiver doesn't have the same problem as the AVR-S500BT. Those have a Technical Service Bulletin out on them for failure of the display. My cousin's failed, and one I saw advertised in Craigslist had the same problem. (Still ticked off at the seller for failing to mention it until I showed up at his door, an hour long drive.)

My cousin waffled a bit but did eventually send his in for repair to the authorized warranty repair center in NJ. They had it back in his hands in one week.

It's just a fuse and an undersized capacitor that have to be replaced. There's documentation on the web of which two parts to get and a fairly easy fix. In the case of the used one I traveled to see, he was only asking $120 for it so I should have been suspicious. It was well out of warranty and I could have fixed it if that was the only problem but without a working display it's hard to test. He wouldn't budge on the price so I drove away.

I would think that problem was one of the upgrades to the new model number.
