Is there such a thing as a non-AV 5.1 channel amp?

Is there a device on the market without all the video processing etc. stuff found on AV receivers, that would amplify 5 discreet channels when fed thru analog inputs?
Something that costs and has power comparable to an AV receiver (~100W/channel)?

You dont have to use any of the video processing or codecs on the AVRs of today. A simple solution for you may be something like a Yamaha RX 659 which would allow you to do what you want, have the power you need and cost less than 300 bucks.

You mean like this?

It has basic Video Inputs, but you don't have to use them.

However, what I use are 3 Integrated Stereo Analog Amps. Pure Audio. No Video. I could hook up a max of SIX components of 5.1 analog inputs. In other words, I could hook up 6 blu-ray players and each one has 5.1 analog output.

You could get 3 of these for your 5.1 Analog Inputs ($326 x 3 = $978 + S/H):

Or 3 of these ($165 x 3 = $495 + s/h):

Or if you want to play safe and get brand name, 3 NAD Integrated amps ($349 x 3 = $1047):

Thanks ppl, I was actually wondering if something like a Receiver minus the video stuff would be a cost saving option. The multichannel power amps instead seem to be geared towards high power needs and cost more than home AV Receivers..

Looks like it's going to be a Yamaha RX-V361 or Pioneer VSX-D514 for me...
(+ Behringer 2030P's thanks to WmAx)
