Is there a top 5 for RLC's around $1k?

I don't seem to live in an area where I can go around and audition the dozens of different speaker brands I'm hearing about, not to mention all of the various models and configurations. I realize that opinions will vary and that speakers have to sound right to my ears, but can it be narrowed down to a top 5 or so that are reliably great choices for RLC's? At least then I can try to search them out even if they're in another city. I hear about Paradigm and Def Tech. I read that Polk is either loved or hated. I've seen Jamo mentioned and have found one place where I can go see them locally. So is there a top 5 or so?

I really like the Jamos I like B&W I like Canton I like Mission I like ....I like ....This is where I head out and grab a soda and wait for the speaker choices come rolling in... If you have a choice of listening go at least hear as many as you can and then choose. Bring some of your own Dvds and Cds so you will have a reference point...

So you just want 3 front speakers for a 3.0 system?

I think using 3 Def Tech StudioMonitor 450s for LRC is one great option. Or using 5 Def Tech SM350s all away around.

I don't think anyone can answer if there is a "Top 5". There are so many choices, and so many different preferences in sound. You would get 5 different answers from everyone you ask.
