Is there good component to composite adapter on the market? I've seen component to VGA and VGA to composite, would that be reliable?

I don't think one exists. Why on earth would you want to go from component to composite anyway?

Well...the DirecTV HR10-250 HD/DVR satellite box will allow only one output to be selected. We want to be able to offload recorded programs to a DVD recorder. I haven't found a DVD recorder with component input.

How would you do this?

I see. Does your player have s-video inputs? You should be able to find a component to svideo adapter pretty easily (not sure of cost). Component is more like s-vid than composite, and I know the adapters exist.
