Is there a difference between optical cables?

I'm looking to get some optical cables for my system. Anybody know if there is any difference in the sound quality between brands? Is one better than another? Do certain ones have applications over other ones? I'm wanting to hook up a DVD player (Toshiba SD 3750) to a receiver (Onkyo TX-SR702) and a HD DVR cable box (Scientific Atlanta - Explorer 8300HD) to the receiver.
Thanks to anyone that helps!:)

The only real difference is loss over a given distance. Any decent quality cable made with plastic fiber (as in most of them) will be good for a few meters. The glass fiber cables have a longer range. Still, because TOSLINK uses an LED for the light source, the range is quite limited when compared to digital coax.

So in conclusion, no. Just get something inexpensive, like this. It works fine for me.
