How do I establish fair market value for used equipment? I don’t have audiofile level stuff, but i just want a fair price. It seems a waste for it to sit here. Thanks

There's a blue book of sorts at Audiogon but doubt it will help much for typical avrs. Maybe hifishark.com may have something similar or a database of sold items to search, fleabay would be another way to look at such. Maybe review Craigslist for what generally is being offered in your area if you're not offering shipping....Generally it's a lot less than you paid for it!

What ever you do, do not go to Pawnshops, they will lowball you. But really audio gear especially mid-level to flagship avrs don't command even half of what you paid. Now high end gear yeah you'll get a good return. But even than at a Pawnshop they will still lowball you. Best like loveinthehd posted check Craigslist to sell, or online. Electronics audio/video depreciates very fast.

Lolo, yeah this music thing gets ahold, gets in your blood..lol. back in the day I was young, had a trumpet, French horn and a Peck horn. My band director would give me this look, like cause I would change up. He'd go Walker lol he'd call me by my last name..man I miss that guy, but anyways he'd go what you think your doing, I'd say well after class last week you had me stay late to practice more he'd shake his head with a lil smile. I never was a first stringer always second, third. Out of those the Peck horn was my favorite. The French horn kick my ass..lol

Oh man, I played that instrument for about half a year in school. There 4 of us in that section. Beautiful sounding instrument. We had a pretty big band. We went to several colleges for competition. Some of the best days of my youth.

I use ebay for ballpark numbers...depending on where you live is also a factor...I live in the sticks and there is little demand for used kit unless you are nearly or really giving it away...that is what family and friends are for...my son, daughter and son-in-law inherit my old stuff
