Is the SVS SB-1000 Pro suitable for home theatre (movie viewing)?

So I tried to acquire the PB-1000 Pro for my home theatre, but it was too huge to ship to my military abroad position, so I went with the SB-1000 Pro instead. Is anyone happy with the SB-1000 Pro as a video camera? I've heard the PB-1000 Pro is great for movies, but I'm afraid I won't be able to acquire it here .

Secondly, I do not own either of the SVS's however my question to you is do you currently have a sub? If you are subless then the answer would be yes, you would be very happy with it, however if you have a sub then which sub are you replacing? This would dictate the level of improvement or not.

It really depends on how large the Room is. The SB 1000 is a great little sealed sub, with the operative word here being "little". Ported subs in general will always have more output in deep bass.

My guess is the PB 1000 is good for a medium size room.

Couple main differences between the two. The SB goes down to 20 Hz while the PB is rated down to 17Hz. Will you notice that in movies? Not likely without a direct comparison. Secondly, the sealed versions tend to have a little more dynamic range in the mid bass while the ported versions have a little more dynamic range at the bottom end. Something that might be noticeable in a large room at high volumes. In a small to medium size room the SB 1000 Pro will still sound great. I recently got an SB 2000 Pro because I wanted the smaller cabinet and prefer the dynamic mid-bass for music. It's still excellent in movies and the only time I miss those few extra hertz at the bottom end is for those few pipe organ recordings that can go down to 16Hz, but otherwise the upgrade to SVS has been a huge improvement overall. If this is your first SVS sub I doubt you'll be disappointed.
