Is the EQ on this amp good?

That would be like putting a 4 cylinder in a Corvette.

How are you going to run it if you don't have pre-outs?

Those Dayton amps seem pretty junky. The "1000 Watt" Dayton sub amp, which I place in quotes, can't produce over 580 watts according to 3rd party measured data. So I would not expect much from that "500 Watt" Dayton sub amp.

The O Audio 500 Watt BASH amp is an acceptable choice. It produces a true 430 watts, is lower cost than the Dayton and is made better, and made in North America. The O Audio also has the required subsonic filter and it has a parametric EQ band. You must not use a moderate to high powered subwoofer for HT without a subsonic filter. A high level sound effect under the port tuning frequency could potentially cause the voice coil former to slam into the back plate of the motor causing severe damage to the driver.

Of course, the Kappa Perfect can take over 2x this much power with music, but it will still give very good performance with the sub.

I did not see anything on that webpage about that amp having a subsonic filter. Are you sure that is the right amp?

Paradigm: I have a sub pre out but not pre amp outs.

If you have a sub pre-out you could still use the ep2500. That is the only pre-out you need for it.;)

If Wmax says something about sub woofers trust him he is on of the experts on DIY subs on this forum.

Your eyesight may not be the best, but I can tell you from looking at the pic alone it has a subsonic filter. The words subsonic filter are right under the nob from what I can tell. You will need to build a box for that amp though. And I think for the trouble and cost of that you would be better served with the ep2500 and the eq suggested. Both can drive two of the subs and won't require a sub amp box.

Of course building a box is probably easy to do to.

Most people just cut a hole in one of the subwoofer walls and install the plate amp directly. Of course, due to the rear wall folding slot port, on the Kappa Perfect sub, one will have to extend an artificial void on the back to house the amplifier. The amp can not be mounted into the slot port area.

Yeah I suppose one could install it on the side as well. Or move the port fold further inward. You could also simply add it on to the back by lengthening the top, side and bottom sheets. If I where installing a plate amp on the sub that would be my approach, but I think he didn't realize he only needs a sub pre-amp to use the behringer.
