Is it worth upgrading my Denon AVR-3200?

I just took my AVR-3200 in for repair (it shuts down in the middle of movies, and it isn't at just the loud parts). Looked at the new AVR-3806 and the Yamaha 2600. Didn't have time to check out the AVR-4306 or the next step up on the Yamaha, as I didn't really plan to even look!

Is there enough difference in the newer receivers to justify upgrading from my AVR-3200?

This would depend on why the unit shut down. Speaker load too demanding for that unit? Or, just a failed part in it?
Your speakers are the driving force behind getting a receiver or an amp. The speakers impedance and sensitivity, room size and listening distances.

It looks like a part failed in it. Receiver is using the same DefTech BP-10s for the last 8 years. I'm more curious if we would see a significant difference in sound quality over the older unit.

Not at all. So, your upgrade almost hinges on repair costs vs a new component with more options that you may be using?
