Is it better...

...to run my new 14g in-wall spkr. wire thru my new gold banana post wall plate as is & connect it ( with newly soldered ends ) to my nifty new speakers bare-naked, or should I terminate with banana plugs?

Also, how far should I run my new in-wall 14g spkr. wire from existing 120v wiring?

On the first question, that is a matter of personal preference. I would personally terminate at the wall and use short, showy cables from the wall to the speaker (Techflex, heatshrink, and some gold plated terminations make any speaker cable look like you paid far too much for it). On the second issue, it should be as far as possible from the mains and if they must cross, make sure it is at a 90 degree angle to reduce the chances of interference. The less time they are parallel, the better.

Jaxvon pretty much nailed it here. If you can avoid running your speaker wires with power lines, do it. If not, try to cross at 90 degree angles and if you have to run them parallel to each other, try to keep them as far apart as you can.

As for terminating your nifty new 14ga wire, I prefer to use banana plugs for the ease of disconnecting and reconnecting when you have to. Plus I really like the way they look. Honestly though, it really depends on what you prefer, you're gonna get the same quality of connection as long as either is done right.
