Is it a good deal??

Hey,
in Canada, FS has a sale on Velodyne Acoustics DLS-5000R 15" Sub. Originaly $1099 and on sale for $799. I believe this sub is their middle line. Is this a good deal or is there any place you guys might suggest for a better sub for the price. It will be running off a Pioneer 1015tx. Pls let me know.

Velodyne Sub

It looks like an excellent sub. Here's a review:

I also suggest you look at the LFM-1 Plus (new model, which I am ordering), $679 USD, not sure about Canadian price or availability. it is the same as the LFM-1 with a lower extension and EQ for response down to 18Hz using a port plug versus 25Hz. Read the reviews on the LFM-1 for reference.

Other excellent subs might be the HSU VTR-3MK2, $699 USD and the SVS 20-39PC Plus, $825, USD. The SVS might be the best sub here if you can go for a cylinder shaped sub that is 39" high. All of the three I mention are super subs with great THD and SPL figures in the lower ranges.

Futureshop has the DLSR line? Wow, none of the ones neer me have it.

I did some comparing with this subwoofer and the Energy S12.3, and personally, the 15inch gets it you know what handed to it by the Energy. The Velodyne is just a big driver in a big box. It doesn't play very low(well) and it isn't as clean as the Energy. The S12.3 can be had for $799 at A&Bsound, I suggest you audition it before pulling the trigger.

Yes they now have the DLS-5000R. www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10078617&logon=&langid=EN# It is in stock at the Coquitlam Centre. Looks like a good sub.
