Is it 100% necessary to recalibrate Audyssey if I make a minor adjustment to my surround speaker?

I’ve got excellent results with my current calibration. Before running Audyssey, I decided to move my surrounds a bit closer to the sofa length wise along the wall, however, I didn’t realize I had moved one further than the other and decided to move the misaligned speaker back about 3 inches.

Assuming I double check the levels with an spl meter, measure and correct the distance in th avr, and measure a similarly flat response with REW compared to the original position, is it entirely necessary I rerun Audyssey?

If I can avoid it, I’d like to. From a frequency response perspective, I highly doubt it would change significantly, since the speaker will be the same distance from the wall and still pointing at the MLP.

I don’t think it would be worth it.

I’ve noticed you mention correcting Audyssey on distance before. Just curious why you feel this is necessary. You do know Audyssey doesn’t set distance by line of sight and does so acoustically?

A few inches won't make much difference. A few feet would.

Well, I had my mic off center for the speaker distances so it was measuring as if I was sitting 6” to the right. I left the sub distance (around 2’ further than actual) because it summed correctly in measurements and sounded fine. It would be a PITA to rerun all 8 measurements just because it measured my left at 10.7’ and my right at 10.4’. I just set them both to 10.5’.

Ok. That makes sense.
