Is any BDP a good CD player

I am looking at the Samsung BDP 2550 or the Panasonic BD35 or 55 and wondered if they we going to also be a good CD player. I am currently running an older Denon CD player bought 18-19 years ago and it does not even have a digital out. I want a decent all around player that does a good job ob BRD to CD. I am running a Denon 3808ci to B&W 684 front, HTM61 center, Paradigm PDR-8 sub. my intent is to use an HDMI V1.3a cable for the connection but if it helps for Cd playback I suppose I could use the optical as well and map it to a different reciver function as the CD player rather than combining it with the BDP input via hdmi.

Any feedback on this, I can not spend the big $ on a Denon or higher quality BDP.

Most players these days bitstream leaving the receiver to do the decoding. The BD35 or 350 should do fine.

You will likely feel a little disappointed in the playback of CDs once you own a Blu-ray player. This may not be related to the BD player not doing a good job with CD playback, but because the BD format will deliver audio to your system that surpasses CD quality by a fair margin.

BD audio > CD audio

But, you won't have any issues in quality with the player pushing out your CDs for music to your system with ease and grace. Just like DVD players will play CDs, BD players will play your CDs and DVDs just fine.
