For all us PS3 owners with Universal remotes, the IR2BT is finally for sale. Not sure if anyone else was on the mailing list but i recieved my email list last night and placed my order. 60 dollars shipped. It has all 51 codes for the PS3 including the ON/OFF switch. can be found at "http://ir2bt.com"

Sounds good to me, I can't wait for some reviews. Hopefully they will drop in price soon, or someone else will start making them so there can be competition. I would rather just see new remotes have bluetooth built in to them so no adapter is needed... who knows what the future holds.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to use the converter that comes with the Nyko remote? Am I missing something?

The Nyko version can't power the PS3 on and off and requires a IR/USB adapter on the front of the PS3. As well, it lacks all the buttons which Blu-ray can utlize fully. It merely handles the few IR functions which the PS3 has built into it, not everything that the PS3/Blu-ray can actually do.

This is truly a better product for those who wish to be able to control the power of the PS3 and to have access to all Blu-ray functions.

Actually, I think the one that I had been looking at was the IR2PS3 controller which actually utlizes the PS3 Bluetooth remote itself, but this one is very similar. The IR2PS3 remote had a goal of including discrete power on/off functionality.

Best way to control PS3 hands down

I recieved my IR2BT unit on friday. It worked with my Logitech 880 right out of the box. I only had to add a few functions to make navigation better. The unit is powered bu two AA batteries or you can plug it into a USB powered port with the proper wire. The build quality is excellent and powers the PS3 on and off perfectly. It is so nice to have only one remote on the table again. If you have a PS3 i highly recommend this product.

I got mine a few days ago. I don't use Logitech and tried to find out how to get a standard IR remote to work.

There is not an easy way unless your remote is learning capable.

So I bought the PS2 IR remote and programmed all the functions into the Yamaha unit. Work flawlessly.

You can completely control all PS3 functions from an IR remote.

So before the haters come on and say, how thats stupid.

I have to confess spending $60 on a converter to use an IR remote is somewhat annoying.

Would this converter be able to be controlled by an RF remote if an IR blaster was used in conjunction with this? I need RF control if I am going to use the PS3.

Yes, this is apparently one of the typical ways to use this remote. It's one of the reasons that they come with a way to keep them powered on 24/7, so that you can put an IR emitter on it and use a RF type remote.

Thanks! Thy PS3 has just become a much stronger contender for pulling Blu-ray duty in my setup. Much appreciated.
